Gig Watch: Powderfinger - Upstairs Downstairs Tour
One thing you do realise, more so than the level of quality the guys
have churned out since the mid-90s, is just how much a lot of these
songs mean to the crowd. Sean Lynch reports from The Forum in Melbourne.

remembered it. Sean Lynch takes a look at this must see music doco.

Soundtrack Review: Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
With the hype surrounding the first Indiana Jones
film in last twenty years slowly settling, we thought there was no
better time to take a look at one of the driving forces behind the
success of this Hollywood icon .... THAT theme song!

Gig Watch: The Thrills - Live at HiFi Bar
The
Thrills showed tonight that it doesn’t take a major name
stadium band to put on an awesome, engaging and truly fun show. It was
also their long awaited return to this country, and first tour for
their latest release, Teenager,
hence an almost full venue welcomed them back.

Feature Album Review: Coldplay - Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends
Something is missing. Parachutes
and Rush of Blood were albums that jumped out at you immediately -
with songs that were so heart-breakingly familiar, personal and
ultimately wondrous. Viva La Vida seems to feel like it's keeping the listener at arms length.

Album Review: Moby - Last Night
The album does
deserve to be on the shelves and in the clubs and in our 1998 laptops
bopping and tripping and lulling and melodically soothing us into a
happier make believe world.

Album Review: The Futureheads - This Is Not The World
Let’s
get this sorted right up front. The Futureheads’ fourth release (three
albums and an EP) "This Is Not The World" is nothing short of a rocking
good time.

Album Review: Tokyo Police Club - Elephant Shell
Garnering success from their "A Lesson in Crime" EP and "Smith" EP in
2006 and 2007 respectively, they’ve quickly risen to new indie heights
with their perky sound.

Soundtrack Review: Forgetting Sarah Marshall
What is interesting here is that the two songs featuring the fictional
band within the film, Infant Sorrow, probably aren’t as horrendous as
they theoretically should be. They’re ridiculous, but not bad...
musically at least.

Album Review: Duffy - Rockferry
Every
month there is a new, supposedly shining, star amongst the throng of
female artists coming from the UK. Winehouse, Leona Lewis, Lily Allen
and her many shadows... the list extends beyond this because the turnover is so high.

Album Review: Flight Of The Conchords - Flight Of The Conchords
While the Flight of the Conchords self titled album, which is made up
of "cleaned up & honed" versions of the songs taken from their cult
hit HBO series, delivers some pretty catchy beats - it's sadly the comedy which has been lost in the
transition from performance to the studio.

Album Review: Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours
To the listener unversed in the art of modern electro (the indie-pop
dilettante) Cut Copy brings to mind the wave of New Romantic 80s
synth-pop. Boppy enough for the dance floor, but with a great cut (Hearts On Fire)
that can be trimmed for radio play.

Album Review: The Kooks - Konk
After reading that
they had around 80-90 songs prepared, its disappointing that some of
the ones that appear on "Konk" were chosen. Our Web Wombat reviewer wonders if the rest were
any better, and if not, it’s a worry that these ones were considered
the best.

Album Review: The Presets - Apocolypso
After
the runaway success of 2005’s Beams,The Presets are back with Apocalypso,
serving up more goosebump-inducing electro magic. All we’ll say
is this: tie your shit down, because you’re going to lose it
very promptly if you don’t.

Album Review: The Vines - The Best Of
The songs on "The Best Of" span the years of 2002-2006. Even though
they’ve been a pretty freakin’ glorious four years, it remains the same
that FOUR YEARS is nowhere near a long enough timeframe to warrant
producing any kind of Best Of.

Single Review: Pete Murray - You Pick Me Up
He has also added a new guitarist to the mix. As always, the lyrics are
a standout. This song is about his wife and with lines like: "You lift
me up to the greatest that I've been. Honestly, its not a phase." you
cant help but feel a little 'aww' by it all.
